The Dramatic Black Swan Ball

Manila witnessed another event filled with drama and style.  The scene was set for a Ball that had all the elements of a Black Swan movie. It was a fitting 25th Anniversary celebration of LifeStyle Asia. The organizers planned every single detail to perfection.  From the black and white decor of the ballroom down to the pristine white center table floral arrangement, the Rizal Ballroom of the Makati Shangrila was truly decorated in style and elegance.  The guests came in their finest haute couture ensembles. LifeStyle Asia's Editor in Chief Anna Sobrepena led the pack in her slinky black Cary Santiago mermaid gown that accentuated her slim figure.  Cheryl Tiu was tres "Black Swan" in a sequined black slinky Maureen Disini that had feathers in the bodice.  Daddy Jerry Tiu was dapper in his tuxedo.

The drama was provided by the ballerines of Ballet Philippines. Amidst a smokey dark ambiance, they emerged-glorious in their pirouettes and pas de deux.

A three star Michelin dinner with wine pairings was truly for the most discriminating palate.

After the speeches (where credit was given to the people behind the success of Life Style Asia, meaning Anna Sobrepena, Jerry Tiu, Sari Yap, Cheryl Tiu, Meryll Yan, etc...) came the naming of the awardees.   Rico Tantoco, as Chairman of Rustan's topped the list as biggest supporter of the magazine.

Songbird Bea Tantoco capped the evening with her hit songs that kept us on our dancing feet and clamoring for more.

Black Swan Ball ended too soon for us.  It was so enjoyable, we wished the evening wore on and on and on...

Tatler at Martini Bar: Celebrating the British Issue

Feeling Royalty! Me with Hermes Director Jerome Souman
The cocktail party at Martini Bar to celebrate Tatler's British Issue was fit for a Queen! There was even a gilded Throne and a Royal Crown for a Queen wanna-be! Every one had fun sitting on that throne and having their royal photo taken. I sat on the throne with Hermes' top Honcho for watches, Jerome Souman as my Royal Consort.

Champagne and different flavors of Martini overflowed to everyone's delight. It made everyone so in the mood to stay on and on.. food was plentiful, which is always the case during any Tatler event.  The invitation specified 6-9 but I know the party ended past midnight! What else could the Queen ask for? Her Diamond Jubilee was celebrated in royal fashion at Martini Bar by Manila's swinging party animals!
